Pleasanton Fly Fishing Show – SCFF booth – Feb 27 - Mar 01, 10:00 AM at Alameda County Fairgrounds, 4501 Pleasanton Avenue, Pleasanton, CA, 94566

The Santa Cruz Fly Fishing club will have booth A4 at the Pleasanton Fly Show.   Club members will be staffing the booth. Discounted show tickets are available for current Santa Cruz Fly Fishing members.

Fly Casting Meetup – Feb 28, 1:00 PM at Jade Street Park baseball field, 4400 Jade St, Capitola, CA, 95010

I am going to be offering a skills development clinic for our first 3 Saturday Casting clinics this year. The class dates will be January 24, February 28 and March 21. The classes will be held at the Jade St Park from 1-3 pm. This class will be limited to 6 participants. I will be going over some of the necessary skills to be successful in the Surf. We will be covering basic casting skills as well as working on double hauls while using sink tips. I would like to focus on using single hand rods for this class. My goal is to prepare those interested in Fly Fishing in our local waters in the Surf, but these skills will also come in handy when casting sinking lines in other situations. We will discuss safety, wading, use of stripping baskets, equipment as well as “Reading water in the surf”. In addition to the 3 classes, we will have an additional class in the water to work on these skills in a real time (date to be announced, probably some time in April).

The 20th annual FLY FISHING FILM TOUR (F3T) is back on the road for 2026 with a top notch selection of short films that are sure to get you fired up for the season ahead!  The F3T is the original and largest fly fishing film event of its kind and we are proud to be an annual community event for all anglers. Come for the action,  buy a beer and snacks,  and stay for the prizes.
